Steele Hill received his Ph.D. in English from the University of Maryland in 1977. He began working at the U.S. House of Representatives as an editor for its computer support organization. He eventually became its desktop publishing specialist and managed its graphic support team.
In November, 1996 he joined SOHO as its media person. He has developed numerous posters, and other print products, produced its videos, coordinated with museums and TV productions, responded to media requests, created the educational Dynamic Sun CD, and generated many original illustrations and composite images for print and the web. He is the co-author of a photo book on the Sun called "The Sun" (Abrams, 2006).
