SOHO Weekly Meeting Minutes For Week 18, Apr. 28 o ANNOUNCEMENTS: None. o OPERATIONAL CONSTRAINTS: Receiver #1 testing will continue next week if the testing today is unsuccessful. If more testing is required, the FOT cannot use the DSS-27 antenna for spacecraft Receiver #1 testing because it does not have sufficient power. Therefore, instrument teams that have programs that require a lot of NRT commanding may want to move those studies to the DSS-27 antenna (after 22:00 UT). This will insure that your programs will be uninterrupted by any receiver #1 testing. SUMER will be testing commanding from MEDOC on Tuesday of next week. We have reserved from: 13 - 14:30 UT. From 14:30 - 15:00 UT, the FOT will need the NRT link to perform daily RSL tables, delayed loads, etc. Additional time for SUMER MEDOC testing can be available from 15:00 onward until the FOT needs it again for perhaps additional receiver #1 testing. The SUMER staff at the EOF will be on hand to supervise the MEDOC commanding (as well as a SOC and an Observatory Engineer as per 11 December 1996 memo outlining the Standard Operating Procedure...). If needed, some additional time for MEDOC testing can be arranged for Wednesday at a similar time. (See how ALL types of testing goes next week). Additionally, there are three gaps in the continuous DSN contact for next week: Tuesday 03:35 - 04:30 UT 16:10 - 20:00 UT Thursday 15:45 - 17:45 UT o COORDINATED OBSERVATIONS M Apr 28 (W18) UVCS CME Search with LASCO Flag, 15:00 - 20:00 UT JOP054, Scaling Laws of Coronal Loops, (#1425) CDS/EIT/MDI EOF: Isabelle Ruedi, EIT and MDI synoptic data only T Apr 29 Filament Observations (#1380), EOF: Ed Schmahl Nobeyama/Siberian Solar Obs/CDS/SUMER UVCS CME Search with LASCO Flag, 15:00 - 20:00 UT JOP054, Scaling Laws of Coronal Loops, (#1425) CDS/EIT/MDI EOF: Isabelle Ruedi, EIT and MDI synoptic data only W Apr 30 Filament Observations (#1380), EOF: Ed Schmahl Nobeyama/Siberian Solar Obs/CDS/SUMER UVCS CME Search with LASCO Flag, 15:00 - 20:00 UT T May 1 UVCS CME Search with LASCO Flag, 15:00 - 20:00 UT F May 2 UVCS CME Search with LASCO Flag, 15:00 - 20:00 UT S May 3 UVCS CME Search with LASCO Flag, 15:00 - 20:00 UT S May 4 UVCS CME Search with LASCO Flag, 15:00 - 20:00 UT Other Activities for Week 18: * Target of Opportunity April 3 - May 1, JOP059, (#1385) Structure and Variability of Loops, CDS/EIT/MDI/SUMER/Yohkoh-SXT, EOF: Andrzej Fludra * MDI Continuous. MDI focus on helioseismology; MDI will provide full disk magnetogram every 96 minutes, but no other campaign support * JOP062, Helium Enhancement Study (#1430), Contact: Carole Jordan and Keith Macpherson, CDS/SUMER, twice at 5 hours each run Planners for Week 18: SOL - Don Michels CDS - Louise Hara-Murnion SUMER - Martin Laming UVCS - Ester Antonucci EIT - Frederic Clette MDI - No planner (see above) LASCO - Don Michels o NOTES: Campaigns/JOPs: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Filament Observations with Nobeyama Solar Heliograph (17 and 35 GHz), and the 45 meter @ 100 GHz. Siberian Solar Observatory @ 5.7 GHz. Program looks at all frequencies and will try to coordinate with CDS/SUMER. If filaments are not on the meridian (so SUMER may contribute), CDS's collaboration should be sufficient. Instruments: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CDS: Mon. JOP054 Tues. Filament Observations Wed. Filament Observations Thurs. JOP054, AR loops, resonance scattering SUMER: Mon. Continuing JOP061, density diagnostics Tues. AR (may not last since it is losing intensity), filament studies Will move slit sometime this week...about 45 - 60 degrees from center The final decision on how much to move will be determined on Monday of next week. LASCO: Behavioral study of loops Adding more C1 sequences using deep exposures: 100 second exposures vs. previous 25 seconds EIT: Will not support JOPs with special observations. CME watch will stay at 195 Angstroms during next 2 weeks while the UVCS with LASCO flag coordinated CME watch is running. UVCS: Monday: Electron temperature studies. Global coronal diagnostics study for 8 days starting Tuesday. Will run in the evening after 22:00 UT due to DSN gaps and likely Reciever 1 tests. MDI: Continuous contact continues. Dynamics, possible ice test on Tuesday (looks for ice on its CCD)... after the weekly meeting it was deemed that no extra VC2 would be necessary.
