WEEKLY MEETING MINUTES For Week 25, June 16 - 22 1. Announcements ---------------- None. 2. Operations Constraints ------------------------- Still in continuous contact. No down-link only DSN stations next week. Reminder, that on Tuesday June 17 (DOY 168) from 17:00 - 17:15 UT there will be an SFG software upgrade (basically they will have a 5 minute power outage) at the station. All data including VC3 will be recorded at the station. So there should be no impact other than we won't see the data in real-time. 3. Coordinated Operations ------------------------- The following coordinated operations are taking place next week: M Jun 16 (W25) Interplanetary Scintillation over Limb Structures (#1510), CDS/EIT/LASCO/UVCS/EISCAT/Yohkoh-SXT, 19:15 - 21:15 UT POC: Andy Breen (EISCAT in Tromso, azb@eiscat.uit.no) Proposal for JOP060, Transient Sources in Corona, VLA/EIT/CDS, 19:30-00:30 UT, POC: Rob Willson, VLA EOF: Jeff Newmark T Jun 17 W Jun 18 T Jun 19 Intercal001 (#1605), CDS/SUMER/EIT/UVCS, EOF: Ray O'Neil F Jun 20 S Jun 21 Proposal for JOP060, Transient Sources in Corona VLA/EIT/CDS, 20:00-00:00 UT, POC: Rob Willson, VLA EOF: Jeff Newmark S Jun 22 Other Activities for Week 25: * MDI Continuous. MDI focus on helioseismology; MDI will provide full disk magnetogram every 96 minutes, but no other campaign support Planners for Week 25: SOL - Terry Kucera CDS - Terry Kucera SUMER - Roger Thomas UVCS - Ray O'Neal EIT - Jeff Newmark MDI - Julia Saba LASCO - Darren Lewis Joint Observations Notes: ------------------------- JOP060: There was some initial confusion over the Rob Wilson VLA observations this week which was resolved. JOP060 (not JOP061) occurs on Monday and Saturday. The Monday observation times conflict with EISCAT (which is higher priority). Therefore, the CDS JOP060 support will only begin after the EISCAT observations are over. EIT will support JOP060 at the scheduled time with 195 angstrom subfield images at a 4-5 minute cadence. The basic objective of this JOP 60 is to study structural variations in active regions using CDS and EIT data. Last April 10, 12, 15, 17 and 19, CDS observed a couple of active regions in Five lines, Fe XVI,Fe XiV, Mg IX, OV and He I over a 120 x 120" FOV about every 15 minutes. This scheme gave good results and Rob Willson would like to run this same thing this time, if possible, on a target active region. JOP065: The JOP065 target of opportunity JOP will not be run, primarily due to lack of support from SUMER. ( The Target of Opportunity: JOP065, The Inverse Evershed Effect, CDS/SUMER/EIT/MDI, POC: Isabelle Ruedi, Requirement: Sunspot off center meridian and in SUMER FOV ). Intercal001: Intercal001 will be on Thursday (pending final confirmation from UVCS planner Ray O'Neil who is currently in Italy). Individual Instruments Plans: ----------------------------- CDS performing Blinker studies (Harrison & Phillips), and a test for a Tenerife study of coronal loops to be run at some future date. UVCS doing observations of z Tau on Monday for flat field purposes. On Tuesday, UVCS will be observing 121 Tau. Pretty much the standard program for the rest of the week with the exception of ICAL001. SUMER will be taking deep reference spectra of North and South Coronal Holes. They will be pointing just inside and outside of the coronal hole boundaries as much as 7 arcseconds off the disk. EIT performing polar plume studies on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday in addition to JOP and Intercal001 support. LASCO is still doing synoptic with some additional C2 and C3 images. Taking some more data for George Simnett's study of disconnection events in CMEs. MDI running a time-distance helioseismology campaign until June 19 with high resolution dopplergrams. Then will switch to high cadence full disk dopplergrams.
