JOP124 Eruptive filament in active region : II- Oscillations in Filaments and Prominences" (Sep. 2000, updated version) 22 April 2003, SOC added preference for 304 Å CME Watch for EIT S.Regnier, J.Solomon, J.C.Vial P.Lemaire (SUMER) D.Pike (CDS) Purpose To find long period oscillations in filaments and prominences, and to obtain temperature, density of these structures. Method We plan to do long time observations (~7h) of a filament or of a prominence with a high temporal resolution (less than 30s) in the HeI line at 584.33A (CDS, SUMER), in the HeII line at 304A (CDS). Temperature and density diagnostics of a prominence is obtain by CDS. Scientific Objective We have found with SUMER long period oscillations in active region filament (a period range between 55min and 2h20min) in the HeI line at 584.33A (see Regnier et al., 2000). We would like to compare these oscillations in an active region filament with new observation of oscillations in quiescent filament or in prominences. On the other hand, we compared observational periods with a prominence model (Joarder & Roberts, 1992). Some parameters could be observed as temperature and density, the angle between the filament and the magnetic field supporting the filament, the width and the length of the filament.
