To check for defunct sessions,in a SOC window type: ps -ef | grep defu

And if there are lots of entries:

Then check Event Log to make sure DPS isn't doing anything then type: stopdps, startdps

Log it in the logbook

Redo your check - there should be very few defunct sessions after that
