DEFUNCT SESSIONS

*Rusty wrote a cronjob to do this so we don't have to*

  • To check for defunct sessions,in a SOC window type: ps -ef | grep defu

And if there are lots of entries:

    ecs----2798----18710----21----------0:00 [defunct]

    root---12022---11496-----8----------0:00 [defunct]

    root---12280---11496-----0----------0:00 [defunct]

    ecs----16408---18710----18----------0:00 [defunct]

    ecs----16748---18710----19----------0:00 [defunct]

    ecs----17732----18710----8----------0:00 [defunct]

    ecs----19532----18710----19---------0:00 [defunct]

    ecs----21760----18710----15---------0:00 [defunct]

    ecs----22796----18710----17---------0:00 [defunct]

  • Then check Event Log to make sure DPS isn't doing anything then type: stopdps, startdps
  • Log it in the logbook
  • Redo your check - there should be very few defunct sessions after that
