• Building problems (leaks, HVAC, lights): report it to Frank Schlosser, the FOM at 6-5599 or Bob Sedano, the FOM at 6-6506. During during off-hours (on weekends or before 8 a.m. and after 4 p.m. on weekdays) call building engineers at 6-8918.

• Primary: go out of SOHO area and turn right in hall and go out loading dock assembly area
• Backup: go through EIT room door into HST area, turn left, get through blue doors and turn right, go down stairs and turn left and go out
• Once outside, join others from our area in the lawn on the side of Bldg. 3 where you see the front gate

• To get onto Goddard, you must wear your GSFC badge and show it to the security guards. Wear your badge at all times when on base. If the guards stop you to search your car or get more ID from you, you must cooperate. You must yield to all pedestrians, including animals, while on base.
• If you forget your badge, go to the front gate and they will give you a temporary badge for the day once you show ID.
• To get into the building, you always need a proximity card. Do not let unauthorized people into the building. There are phones by many exits that people can call from if they are locked out. ALWAYS swipe your card, even if the door is opened by others for you.
• To get into the SOHO area between 7am-7pm you don't need a card. After those hours, you will need one. Do not prop open doors.
• To visit the FOT in the IMOC you need a proximity card with the correct access. SOCs, data techs, Cynthia, higher-ups, etc have access - the instrumenters don't have access and aren't supposed to be in the IMOC without permission.
• Visitors are allowed on base as long as they are picked up from the front gate and escorted everywhere.
• Visitors who have regular badges and don't need to be escorted can get a proximity card from Joan Rurka.
• There are sometimes public tours through the SOHO area but they do not have access into C160 - they must look through the glass outside the room

• Dial 6 (or sometimes 5) before the 4 digit Goddard extension.
• Dial 9 for off-base but local calls.
• Dial 9-1 for long distance calls.
• Dial 9-011 for international calls - use the international phone.

• Personal phone calls are allowed, provided they don't interfere with your job or someone else's job. Long distance personal phone calls are only allowed if you can not make them outside working hours (i.e. to a business that is only open during your working hours). Use common sense. Using phone cards works well for long distance or international personal calls.

• To find out phone numbers for anyone on base, go to website: http://internal.gsfc.nasa.gov and use the X500 directory.
• Goddard phone books and area phone books are in SOC office

• You will be provided with a private email account and netscape access. The government may be monitoring your activities. Do not write anything that is not appropriate and do not pass along chain letter emails. Personal email is allowed provided it doesn't interfere with your job and you use common sense. Do not tell anyone your account password.

• You will have www access in this job. The government may be monitoring your activities. Do not go to any website that is not appropriate (i.e. pornography) for a NASA worker. Personal websurfing is allowed provided it doesn't interfere with your job and you use common sense.

• There is a printer in the SOC office. Type lp or print in a window and then the file name, and your file will print. You can print from netscape as well, just make sure the correct printer is selected: soho-laser2 is the printer.
• There are other printers in the EOF. They can be accessed using the MACs.

• The fax machine in the EOF is at 301-286-0218.
• To send on-base faxes, type 6 (or 5) and the extension.
• To send off-base but local faxes, type 9 then the number.
• To send international faxes, you must use the phone attached to the fax machine and follow directions on the board above it.

• There is a xerox machine next to the kitchen in the hall. It is available for use 24 hours a day.

• The bathrooms are near the front of the building - you can see them from the T at the end of the hall

• There is a kitchen next to the xerox machine room in the hall. Feel free to put food in there as long as it is labeled and dated and not left in there to rot forever. Beware though, sometimes food disappears from there.
• There are vending machines directly under the bathrooms. Take the stairs in the hall down to them.
• There is a cafeteria in Building 1 and 21.

• You will be given passwords to use for your job. Do not tell them to ANYONE. If you must write them down, do not tell anyone where they are written.
• If you have ANY computer security concerns, notify Cynthia (not by email).
• If anyone unfamiliar calls and asks about questions about the spacecraft or computers, find out their name and number and tell them that someone will call them back later. Do not tell them anything.

• We are in constant listening contact with the FOT and other NASA people via the voice box. Make sure that we are always listening on channel 84 and 95, and all others that we can connect to. Speak to the FOT on channel 95, and speak to the instruments on channel 84. If there are other channels besides 84/95 that have static, you can turn those off and leave a note. Leave a note on the voicebox whenever anything is not standard about the voice box.

• You can park in any parking lot except in an emergency. In that case, you must park in the Building 14 lot that is far away from our building.

• Many office supplies are on the SOC office desk. If something runs out, check the supply cabinet right outside the door to the left. There is extra printer/xerox/fax paper spread throughout the EOF. Leave a note for the SOC when supplies are low, and SOC will tell Joan Rurka (6-2961, Bldg 26).
