The SOHO Attitude Files

The SOHO attitude files follow the ISTP standard for attitude files. This standard will be slightly modified to suit SOHO needs. These files have 10-minute averages of the spacecraft roll, pitch and yaw and are written in CDF format. The files can be found under the Definitive subdirectory here.

In addition, and to fulfill the requirements from the helioseismology experiments on-board, full time resolution attitude files are going to be available. These files as downlinked from the spacecraft contains pitch and yaw offsets from Sun-center (5 times per second) and roll angle offsets from the projection of the Sun's North Pole (one time per second). This is called the spacecraft-body-frame coordinate system. These files will be written in ASCII and available through the SOHO Archive. A sample can be found under the Full subdirectory here.

Please, note that the units for the definitive and full-resulution attitude files are not the same:

File Format Time Pitch Yaw Roll

Definitive CDF UT radians radians radians
Full Resolution ASCII UT degrees degrees degrees
