PLANNING MEETING -- Dec 6, 1996 Chair: L. Allen Notes: George Doschek FOT Report: S/C status is nominal. No anomalies. Accomplished Activities: RSL, VIRGO, NOM HGA, Submode 3 test Planned Activities: RSL, VIRGO, SWAN, CELIAS (16:45, 17:20, 18:10) Ground System Anomalies: 340/12:05 TLM Dropout 7 minutes D24 SCP I/F problem Data is recoverable, Sumer cmds interrupted. 340/20:29 50 minute TM losss D24 Antenna stowed due to high winds Received D46 pass from 21:19 - 22:10 Data is non-recoverable from 20:29 to 21:19 UT. 340/2155 POCC string crash 341/03:58 TM Drop/loss cmd D46 13 min TM loss non-recoverable. 1.5 hours no command ability due to lightening strike. SCIENCE: CDS: nominal. They lost most of the blinker study yesterday, submode test went okay, JOP56, JOP53 SUMER: Nominal. Yesterday SUMER participated in a submode test and ran several studies, including a He I absorption line study and electron density measurements high above the north polar coronal hole using a new Ne VII density diagnostic. Today the small northern coronal hole near disk center will be studied in an attempt to measure coronal hole outflow velocities. Plasma diagnostic studies of temperature, density and FIP abundances above the north and south polar holes will also be carried out. UVCS: UVCS will running JOP056 with some revisions. LASCO: Nominal, continuing with "normal" observations today. The high data rate test went very well. There was no outstanding coronal events yesterday. However, a very bright line was seen in a C3 image running roughly north/south. It looks like it is not instrumental. EIT: Nominal. Yesterday EIT supported the blinker study and did get 17 minutes worth of data before telemetry interruption. Today EIT will support JOP 53. MDI: Nominal. MDI tried but because of telemetry could not support the blinker study. Filtergrams and Dopplergrams will be run over the weekend to support the JOPS. JOPS 53 and 56 are being run today.
