Larduinat Notes by Shane Stezelberger, LASCO Announcements: - The Ariane 5 launch vehicle, carrying the Cluster payload, failed shortly after launch at 08:30 EDT this morning. - There is no reponse yet from FDF on Venus' location next week. - Don Michels showed recent LASCO images (difference between DOY 156 at 00:06 and 02:27) with new, unusual objects present. One object was roughly 10x25 pixels. CDS has seen nothing like this on their CCD. Aid in identifying this debris or phenomena was requested. FOT Report: - Spacecraft is nominal ... Telemetry drop-outs recorded: DOY 155 18:43 recoverable (2 minutes loss) DOY 155 21:28 unrecoverable DOY 156 04:39 recoverable (equipment reset) REMINDER: On June 15 there may be 50 minutes LOC (loss of contact) with SOHO commencing at 19:24 due to the Moon blocking DSN sight to the s/c. Instrument Status: CDS: Nominal. Minor s/w interruption overnight. SUMER: Nominal. Yesterday, supported JOP012/017. Today, will perform coordinated observations with CDS, UVCS. UVCS: Nominal. Observed polar plumes yesterday. The new synoptic program will be ready today. LASCO: Nominal. Running synoptic program. Anomalous objects still seen in LASCO images. EIT: Nominal. Supported UVCS polar plumes yesterday. Will continue with JOP012 for the rest of the week. MDI: Nominal. Coordinated observations: Streamer study for June 5; Will observe the equator region on the East limb. UVCS, CDS, SUMER will participate (EIT with synoptic).
