09 July 1997 SOHO Daily Meeting Minutes DOY 190 Chaired by: L. Allen (SOC), H. Mason (SOL) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- - Please avoid NRT commanding today between 1900 and 2000 UT (3-4 PM), as MDI will be uplinking part of its bckgrnd. queue. - Science Club: 3:30 PM today, Bldg. 26: Helen Mason: "Active Region Diagnostics with CDS" - Monday's lack of continuous NRT, plus the SSR dump, will postpone real NRT commanding until almost 2000 UT. Please keep this in mind while planning submode transitions. FOT REPORT ---------- SPACECRAFT STATUS: Nominal S/C ANOMALY SUMMARY: None ACCOMPLISHED ACTIVITIES: RSL, VIRGO PLANNED ACTIVITIES: RSL, VIRGO GROUND SYSTEM ANOMALY SUMMARY: 189/1534 Carrier down 2 min. late D61 LMC error 190/0747 10 min no commanding D61 CPA problem 8/31-9/04 Maneuver Activities (Gyro Cal, Roll, MM, SK, RW4) STATE OF SUN ------------ LASCO observed W. limb CME late yesterday (with a E. limb event at the same time). EIT observed an event in the SW AR ~08:00 UT. UVCS will probably be pointing at the E. limb streamer later this week. VLA will be supporting the macrospicules campaign this weekend, 1400-2230 UT, Saturday through Monday. EIT will provide 1 hr. of high-cadence 304A images each day during this time (except for Monday, with the lack of NRT). INSTRUMENT STATUS ----------------- CDS: Nominal. Today: streamer study, AR. Tomorrow: AR, engineering work between 1400-1600 UT. SUMER: Nominal. Today: streamer study. Later: ref. spectra above SW AR. SUMER will nominally power down during weekends, beginning this weekend (11-13 July). This measure will conserve detector lifetime. Free telemetry will be distributed to LASCO/EIT or CDS. UVCS: Nominal. Beginning electron-scattering Ly-A streamer observations at 1500 UT. LASCO: Nominal. Synoptic, streamer study support (Line profiles and polarized brightness measurements in FeX and FeXIV, W. limb). EIT: Nominal. Continuing AR study until weekend, daily 304 macrospicule support thereafter. MDI: Nominal. Proceeding with upload of flat field (will need 6x1.5 hrs. of dedicated NRT during the next few days). AOB: None
