Reason Unknown Report of the SOHO daily meeting held at MEDOC ----------------------------------------------- * Review of the data and events of the past day(s): CDS - Spiros shows the CDS data for JOP009. A short program (about 30 min) was performed in MOVIE mode in He I line. No evident variability in the prominence itself. He also presented the observations of November 3 (GIP 'Heating episodes' by F. Reale): some moderately active cores are evident in almost all the lines. They show some variability in less than 1 hour. Probably only one magnetic polarity was observed. The observations of November 4 were performed near the limb and, in the OVI line a structure seems to expand over the solar limb. SUMER JOP9 had problems with the position of the slit which was too close to the limb. The position was corrected in NRT. UVCS Synoptic observations of November 4 were shown. A comparison between Ly-alpha and OVI (1032 A) synoptic images was done. The presentation stimulated discussion on the location of the boundaries of the polar coronal hole in the outer corona (above 1.5 Rsun). * Today's observations: GIP "Cool loops' JOP36 GIP 'Episodic heating' The programs were confirmed essentially as reported in yesterday's report, only the pointing has been (slightly) changed.. G. Peres asked the CDS team for a movie mode program in the OV line running for GIP "cold loop". The movie mode could be dangerous for very bright regions, however. SUMER fine-tunes the pointing for JOP009, today. EIT will run CME watch in 195 A and 171 A UVCS will continue its special observations performing a radial scan at PA=290 degree from 1.5 to 4 Rsun. * Tomorrow's program: November 6 is devoted to the study of quiet regions. JOP009 and JOP038 (including the electron impact Ly-beta program of V. Zharkova) are planned; SUMER and CDS will support the JOPs. A good filament target was found South East of AR8100. The active region has to be avoided, anyway. EIT will perform CME Watch at 195 and 171 A. * Other reports: G. Peres presented CDS and SUMER results of JOP066 for Wednesday November 29. The observations refer to an isolated loop observation. The loop shows variability on a time scale of 1 hour. In NIV and O III lines (SUMER) very sharp Doppler shifts (indicating velocity of about 100 Km/sec) are evident. The possibility of rerunning JOP066 during week45 was discussed. The feasibility depends on repointing SUMER at the end of the week. RV & JCV
