Reason Unknown Relevant notes/update after meeting ----------------------------------- Yesterday we were unable to successfully command the spacecraft using DSS-27. This is a ground station problem not a spacecraft problem (as commanding is fine with other ground antennas). Currently, we are still seeing the same problem today. After the meeting, no other antenna was available to support SOHO with command capability. Next pass available is DSS-46 at Caneberra, which may be able to come up a bit earlier. Teams prepared for no commanding on DSS-27 yesterday. MDI may revise their VC2 schedule, as the VC2 was delayed yesterday because of lack of command capability (or consideration of time-tags to be discussed offline.). JOPs ---- * JOP063: Pointing to an absorption feature in the NE which we think is a prominence coming around the limb: X=-690", Y=+720" (SOHO view) = N42, E69. The schedule is the same as it has been: CDS: 19:30-23:06 UT and EIT: 19:30-20:30 UT INSTRUMENT STATUS: ------------------ CDS: Nominal. Today: JOP063 support, active region dynamics. Anticipated yesterday that they would not be able to command on DSS-27 today and planned accordingly. SUMER: Not presently observing. UVCS: Nominal. Yesterday: approximately 3.5 hrs. science activities lost because of DSS-27 station problems. They skipped one roll position (120) and changed their procedure. They have enough commands loaded to last until Friday when we do not have DSS-27. Today: observing at 150, 180 deg. at S. polar coronal hole. Tomorrow: 120, 240 deg. They will try to make up the roll position lost yesterday over the weekend (however they may have to shorten an observation). LASCO: Nominal. Continuing synoptic observations and C1 W. limb high-cadence line scans. 3 CMEs seen 20 January, 1 halo on 21 January seen at 06:37 UT. EIT: Nominal. Today: JOP063 support. Recorded a "prairie fire" eruption along South polar filament circa 06:00 UT. MDI: Nominal. Continuing continuous contact observations. Have noticed a pattern in their PZTs which has appeared. The following URL will show a plot of Y axis PZT corrections which have been changing with a ~ 12 hour periodicity. http://www.space.lockheed.com/MDI/health_mon/gif/hkplot3_pzt_corr.gif Has anyone out there been moving any mechanisms that could cause this..? Seems to have started around January 13.
