THE GEOMAGNETIC FIELD IS EXPECTED TO REACH ACTIVE EARLY IN THE PERIOD. THE FIELD SHOULD RETURN TO GENERALLY UNSETTLED LEVELS BY THE END OF THE PERIOD. At this time there are 8 active regions visible on disk. Flare yesterday (C5 Class) from AR 8232 at 16:06 UT. Small microflares and and a small 'Moreton Wave' with associated CME seen in EIT data. LASCO reports activity in C2 due to this flare causing a front-sided partial Halo event. EIT reports a cool jet coming from AR 8237 seen in 304A image at 01:00 UT. CME reported visable in LASCO C2 from the West limb today at 06:27 UT. Targets for today; JOP070: disk center, quiet sun (MDI high res field) JOP009: Observing filament in SSE area INSTRUMENT STATUS ----------------- TRACE Completed the 14-Day Active Region Campaign at 12:00 UT today. Today calibrations, loading of new program and testing of observing sequences. There will be no science images for the remainder of the day. SOHO Instruments: ---------------- CDS Nominal. Yesterday AR Monitoring and participation with JOP070. Today 2 rasters of West limb observations then JOP009 at the SSW filament target. Later will run JOP070 in quiet sun and possibly participate in the Streamer Study with UVCS/LASCO. UVCS Nominal. Yesterday Interplanetary He I program with mirror scaling at 7 & 9 Rsun positions. Today Abundence and Detector Artifact program and Streamer Studies with LASCO. LASCO Nominal. Starts the UVCS/LASCO Streamer study in C1 14:00-24:00 UT. EIT Nominal. CME Watch in 195A. Today JOP009 with 304A 07:00- 13:00 UT. Later JOP070 from 15:00-19:00 in 195A at 5 minute cadence 7x7 subfield. MDI Nominal.
