Monday 2 November 1998 SOHO Daily Meeting Minutes Chaired by: L. Roberts (S0C) Notes: MDI DOY: 306 FOT REPORT ---------- S/C is nominal. Data problems: 305/05:58 - 7.5 minute dropout from D46 due to SFG (recoverable) 304 and 305 data from Madrid demo tracks was degraded due to SFG. There is no plan to playback the data unless someone requests it for times of really bad data. Demo track report: Commanding went well except during tlm dropout times. Had trouble locking on receiver 1. Today: nominal activities and submode change at 01:30 UT Tuesday. We have D27 today so treat that as a downlink only pass. SOLAR STATUS ------------ C flare today from the GOES page. EIT saw much activity this weekend: Friday/Saturday was a streamer blowout on SW limb probably from the filament eruption. E limb had many CME's from both AR's coming over the limb. Many CME's were linked between the north and south AR's. Today EIT saw small flares and jets from AR in the SE LASCO saw a CME this morning from the SE. The Spartan web page has the latest images on it: http://thalia.gsfc.nasa.gov/~gibson/SPARTAN/spartan.html INSTRUMENT STATUS ----------------- CDS: Weekend: Spartan support with streamer observations on Saturday and then on Sunday observations of the NE streamer. Switched to rocket support doing a full sun raster scan with full spectral range. This continues until the submode switch tonight. Tuesday: N coronal hole observations in support of Spartan for 10 hours. SUMER: Check out starting this evening to test the 7 mechanisms. UVCS: Nominal. Friday was the start of Spartan support with N coronal hole observations and then a scan with the visible light polarizer. Following Spartan deployment on Saturday UVCS began its coordinated observations. Target 1 was the NE streamer and target 2 was the SW streamer. Both of these observations are complete and UVCS is aligned with Spartan both temporally and spacially so far. LASCO: Nominal. Taking C2 polarizer sequences hourly and C3 polarizer sequences every 4 hours. EIT: Supporting rocket flight with extra synoptic sets. Doing a calibrataion with TRACE during their full disk mosaics. Moved the synoptic set times to match TRACE full disk mosaic times. MDI: Nominal. Weekend: observed the AR that just left the high res field and then switched on Saturday afternoon to full disk mags and continuum. This will continue through today for Spartan support. Tomorrow: mag and dopplergrams in best focus if software upload works tonight. Wed: a time distance study on the AR with the nice sunspot. ____________________________________________________________________________ TRACE: Weekend: support of Spartan with interrupts for rocket support. Today: observations of streamer positions in 4 fields of view in the 3 EUV wavelengths and in Ly-alpha. TRACE will follow Spartan targets except for rocket support times. For the rocket support TRACE will do full disk mosaics before and after launch and while the rocket is up TRACE will observe AR 8375 in 171 and Ly-alpha.
