SOHO Daily Meeting Minutes for 28 April 1999 Chaired by: L. Roberts (S0C) Notes: K. Schenk (EIT) FOT Briefing ------------ Spacecraft Status: Nominal Spacecraft Anomalies: None Accomplished Activities: RSL,VIRGO, Planned Activities: VIRGO Upcoming Operations: 5/18: Momentum Management Maneuver Ground Anomalies: 118/0009 92 Min Degraded TM. D42. Reason Unknown. Recoverable. 118/0419 Late AOS. D42. Y-axis antenna problems. D34 brought up as replacement. No TM lost. SOLAR STATUS ------------ SOLAR ACTIVITY FORECAST: SOLAR ACTIVITY IS EXPECTED TO BE VERY LOW TO LOW. REGIONS 8523 AND 8524 ARE THE MOST LIKELY AREAS FOR ISOLATED C-CLASS ACTIVITY. GEOPHYSICAL ACTIVITY FORECAST: THE GEOMAGNETIC FIELD IS EXPECTED TO BE QUIET TO UNSETTLED. 4/27 DOY 117: 13:13 UT CME from behind limb in EIT in SSE/over pole. Comet SOHO-61 discovered in C3 and C2 data 08:00- 16:00 UT. C2 sees the CME over S pole starting at 14:30 UT. The Kreutz path comet met the Leading edge of CME head-on at ~3Rs (coincidence?) 22:00 UT EIT sees CME behind limb in NE. C2 sees this nice long duration CME starting at 22:30 UT with outflow that continued until 07:00 in C3. 4/28 DOY 118: Disk is quiet after post-flare looping on East limb. Very nice Coronal Hole on disk !!!! INSTRUMENT STATUS ----------------- CDS: GIS is back in action. After several tests it has been found that bands 1, 3 and 4 are nominal and working normally. Band 2 is still under investigation and has some anomalies that are under investigation. Some suggested reasons for the anomalies indicate that band 2 will return to nominal in due course. Details are available from Eddie Breeveld. UVCS: Nominal. Performed synoptics then 3 week extended synoptic program. LASCO: Nominal. C2 and C3 synoptics while CME watching. EIT: Nominal. 195A CME Watch full field full res. MDI: Nominal. Continously performing Continuous Dynamics campaign. This morning finished weekly ICE calibrations. TRACE: Nominal. Still currently following AR 8518 across disk in 171A and 195A filters till 00:00 UT. Tomorrow will perform some spacecraft tests then resume science.
