Hollis (SOC) DOY: 176 FOT Briefing -------------- Spacecraft Status: Nominal Spacecraft Anomalies: 176/0414 - UTTHFLX1 (= 16.974) exceeded Yellow Low limit Accomplished Activities: VIRGO, SWAN, Nom HGA Table, SERTS Launch SSR Management Planned Activities: VIRGO, SWAN, RSL Ground Anomalies: 176/0006 - Degraded TM from D46; Cause unknown (15 min, recoverable) 176/0907 - TM Dropout from D61; Cause unknown (1 min, recoverable) Solar Status ------------ 6/24 LASCO C2: 13:31 Halo over N pole 17:55 Large blob over N pole 18:54 2 small CMEs (one NE and one SW) EIT: 12:48 Filament running North-South begins errupting (EIT observed this in all 4 filters) 13:13 Loops between NE AR cluster and SE AR cluster developed a very large "bridge" 13:13 C3 flare from Ar cluster (AR 8596 area) AR cluster in NE very active all day. Many brightenings and changing loops. 18:00 Long duration C5 flare from small AR in SW (AR 8605) 20:12 Small flare from AR cluster (AR 8592) C3 flare in GOES. 6/25 LASCO C2: 07:54 Small CME from over S pole 09:30 Small CME on E limb EIT: All morning AR Cluster in NE has had many transient changes, small flaring and arcading. 02:00 Very interesting loop connections (and disconnections) in central meridian N of equator until 04:36 UT. Then a small C1 flare emits from the AR cluster. 06:48 Dimming from region W of AR cluster. The two ARs that developed on disk the evening of 6/23 are still quite active. Spitting, looping, etc. Instrument Status ------------------ CDS Nominal. SERTS launch very successful. Payload recovered intact and should have wonderful data. JOP098 and weekend studies are planned. UVCS Continuing global corona study. Skipping synoptic on Sunday for additional special observerations. LASCO Nominal. C2 and C3 synoptics while CME watching. EIT Nominal. CME watch and synoptics continues. MDI Nominal. ---------------- TRACE Finishing sunspot study, JOP098. Will run JOP098 with EUVE sequences and track active regions entering MDI high resolution field-of-view. AOB ---- Weekly meeting was short. Not a lot of coordinated activities. Will dispense with weekly meeting minutes this week.
