FOT Briefing ------------- Spacecraft Status: Nominal. Spacecraft Anomalies: 215/0734 CTM16 Yellow Low 215/0959 CUVMCP Red Low Accomplished Activities: VIRGO Planned Activities: VIRGO, HGA, New Tracking Star Ground Anomalies: 216/1218 TGC Failure at D61. 7 min loss of R/T data, recoverable from SSR. 216/1235 D16 uplink power incorrectly set, off by a scale factor of 10. Delayed commanding 66 min. 217/0626 CPA Failure at D66. Delayed commanding 35 min. 217/1108 Exciter Failure and D66 forced to halt track. Lost R/T data from 1112 to 1154 and 1300 to 1400. D61 brought up to cover 1154 to 1300. All data recoverable from SSR. As a result, OCD 1218 rejected for 8/5. SOLAR STATUS ------------ 8/04 DOY 216 - 8/05 DOY 217 EIT daily On-Line Solar Status and observations: http://umbra.nascom.nasa.gov/eit/plan/log_form19990805.html Besides a CME off NW limb @13:35 UT on the 4th, the Sun was pretty quiet. LASCO 8/04: 14:06 UT a small CME may be filament related from NNW limb. 21:06 2 CMEs from the NE and W at the same time, small and dissipated quickly. 8/05: 01:26 UT large amount of outflow east of the N pole, later developed into a CME @02:50 UT at the NE. A comet is visible in C3. MDI: Interesting activities at S14E80 just below the HR FOV with flux slowly evolving and separating in the last few days. INSTRUMENT STATUS ----------------- CDS: Nominal. Continue extended Corona Observation Study @SE. Later some engineering activities. Will participate in ICAL001. SUMER: Nominal. Engineering on detectors. Two runs of ICAL001 starts tomorrow at 16:00 and 21:00 UT. UVCS: Nominal. Continued Synoptics and CME Watch campaign at 225 degrees. LASCO: Nominal. C2 and C3 synoptics. EIT: Nominal. 195A CME Watch. Will participate in the first ICAL001. MDI: Nominal. Continuing extracted magnetograms, dopplergrams and intensity images, at full disk resolution in central latitude belt. Then switch to full disk magnetograms and velocity tomorrow. TRACE: Nominal. Continue chromospheric dynamics observation. Then flarewatch at AR8651.
