FOT Briefing ------------ Spacecraft Status: Nominal Spacecraft Anomalies: None Accomplished Activities: VIRGO, HGA, Modified CEPAC noninal thermistor (QTHI1A) high limit, per OCD #1271 Planned Activities: VIRGO, RSL Upcoming Operations: Mercury Transit on 11/15, Instrument Safing/Roll Maneuver for Leonids on 11/16 Post Leonids Roll/Momentum Management/SK Maneuver on 11/19 Ground Anomalies: 1535 11.6 min late AOS due to tlm system problems at D27, no tlm lost as data still being received from D66 1950 4 min. and 15 sec. unrecoverable tlm dropout possibly due to MFR problems at D16 0428 20 minute recoverable tlm dropout due to SCP failure at Canberra SOLAR ACTIVITY -------------- FORECAST from NOAA: SOLAR ACTIVITY SHOULD REMAIN GENERALLY MODERATE. REGIONS 8759 AND 8760 REMAIN AS THE LIKELY SOURCES OF M-CLASS FLARES DUE TO THEIR SIZE AND SLIGHTLY MIXED MAGNETIC FIELDS. HOWEVER, SEVERAL OTHER LESSER REGIONS COULD PRODUCE ISOLATED M-CLASS EVENTS. THERE REMAINS A SLIGHT POSSIBILITY OF A MAJOR FLARE FROM REGIONS 8759 AND 8760. Tomorrow more sunspots, North pole and South pole over the weekend. Energetic events and perhaps loops on the limb. UVCS -- Looked at coronal hole on the west limb. More coronal hole studies over the weeknd possibly. LASCO -- C2 and C3 synoptics continue EIT -- 195 CME watch continues MDI -- In continuous contact, taking full disk magnetograms.
