SOHO Daily Meeting Minutes for Monday, 22 October 2001 ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * SPWG Friday 26 October at 2pm in the EAF. * There will be meetings in the EOF on Monday and Friday, but not Tuesday through Thursday. The SOCs will send out the MEDOC minutes. * SOHO Science Club Seminar Wed 24 October 2001 SPEAKER: Judit Pap (UCLA/GSFC) TOPIC: Comparison of the SOHO/VIRGO, SOHO/CELIAS/SEM, and UARS/SUSIM UV irradiance time series with magnetic features derived from the SOHO/MDI images TIME: 3:30 PM Wednesday October 24, 2001 PLACE: SOHO EAF (Bldg. 26, room G-10) FOT REPORT ---------- Spacecraft Status: Nominal Spacecraft Anomalies: 292/2123 Unexpected BDR Status - Battery 1 BDR 1 off. Accomplished Activities: DOY 292: VIRGO, CELIAS Acquired new tracking star, mag = 6.55 DOY 293: VIRGO, SWAN, CELIAS, Flight S/W Maint. DOY 294: VIRGO, CELIAS, Noncoho Load Planned Activities: VIRGO Acquire new tracking star Switch Battery 1 BDR 1 on Upcoming Operations: 11/7 MM and SK Operations 11/14-15 Roll Maneuver Ground Anomalies: 292/2025 Lost 9 seconds of TLM and 8 minutes 52 seconds of command ability due to D46's antenna off-pointing as the result of an ATS2 failure. 293/0746 Received degraded data during entire D66 support (0746 to 1550; 8 hours 4 minutes). Cause unknown. 293/2205 Lost 1 hour 9 minutes of range data and 39 minutes of command ability as D46 was unable to lock spacecraft receiver #1 due to incorrect sweep parameters. 294/0739 Received degraded data during entire D66 support (0739 to 1151; 4 hours 12 minutes). Cause unknown. 295/1019 Tracking star in slot 2 went false event as its Z-coordinate crossed beyond the SSU's field of view. Star was made ineligible and released until a new tracking star can be provided by FDF. SOLAR STATUS ------------ 10/19 DOY 292 - 10/22 DOY 295 EIT daily On-Line Solar Status and observations: http://umbra.nascom.nasa.gov/eit/plan/log_form20011022.html LASCO daily On-Line Solar Status and observations: http://lasco-www.nrl.navy.mil/observations/2001/Todays_obs.html INSTRUMENT STATUS ----------------- CDS: Nominal. See MEDOC report. SUMER: Nominal. See MEDOC report. UVCS: Nominal. Today UVCS has 10 hours of special observations starting at 16 UT, 4 hours of synoptics and 10 hours of special observations. Tuesday at 16 UT UVCS begins 24-hour synoptics. LASCO: Nominal. C2 and C3 synoptics. EIT: Nominal. Half resolution 195 Angstrom CME watch and synoptics. MDI: Nominal. Full disk magnetograms and dopplergrams, supporting AR moss study. TRACE: Nominal. Looking at AR 9661 and AR moss study with Sac Peak. MEDOC Daily meeting - Monday 22-October-2001 -------------------------------------------- P Lemaire showed some results of SUMER's off-limb (by 30") observations from Friday. The OVI lines had a good S/N and a ratio of ~2.5, allowing the line formation process to be identified. Scattered light will be determined from the Lyman-beta line data. Brigitte Schmieder reported that THEMIS had observed the flare in AR9691 on Sunday (21-Oct 11:20 UT). CDS was observing that region, but had not observed any part of the flare directly. A Gabriel reported that a filament eruption in the north-west on Saturday, 20-Oct, (as also notified by J Gurman) had changed the structure of the streamers in that region, which had been the subject of JOP 130. After consulting the latest images it was decided to set the SUMER slit to X=170" at the change scheduled for today (22-Oct) ------------- MEDOC detailed daily plan for Tuesday 23-Oct-2001 SUMER ----- Slit position will be at X=170" JOP 133 00:00 - 03:30 On disk line profiles. (170",134") JOP 131 08:00 - 12:00 Lyman lines study. Filament (170",134") JOP 122 15:00 - 19:30 Heating blocks. (170",0") JOP 130 19:30 - 24:00 Streamer study (170",960"). Useful extra data even though no UVCS support available. CDS --- Synoptic 00:00 - 06:30 JOP 133 06:30 - 08:20 (170",134") JOP 131 08:20 - 09:45 (120",145") JOP 149 09:45 - 12:30 (325",-357") - AR 9670 JOP 149 12:30 - 14:30 (65", -401") JOP 122 15:00 - 19:00 (170",0") JOP 130 19:30 - 24:00 (170",1042") UVCS ---- - 16:00 continuing 10 hr special + 14-hr long synoptic 16:00 - 40:00 10-hr special + 4-hr mini-synoptic + 10-hr special EIT --- Usual CME watch TRACE ----- Support requested for JOP 149 and JOP 122, but apparently it is conditional upon commitments to GB programs, which are conditional upon the weather.
