Today - Oslo active region study on AR 9334 or 9335, then calibration observations with EIT on two active regions and one quiet sun region. Thursday - Offpoint calibration studies - idle during the offpoint. CDS also wants to coordinate with TRACE on a full disk mosaic following the offpoint. UVCS: Nominal. Today - Comet observations of SOHO-294 at 8.5 Rsun on the DSS-27 pass, followed by coronal hole study in the South West from 1.7 to 2.4 Rsun and minisynoptic. Tomorrow - UVCS will ramp down detectors and conduct a test of the UVCS sun sensor safing loop during the offpoint. After SOHO returns to normal pointing the FOT enables the offpoint flags, UVCS will return to normal operations. LASCO: Nominal. C2 and C3 synoptics today. Tomorrow LASCO C2 and C3 doors will be closed during the offpoint. EIT: Nominal. 195 Angstrom CME watch and synoptics. Tomorrow will start lamp calibrations at 10:30 UT, with synoptics and CME watch in the gap prior to the offpoint maneuver. MDI: Nominal. MDI began observing in high res mode at 04:30 UT today. Will take 5 minutes of dark images just before the offpoint, then cycle through nominal focus/full disk best focus/out-of-focus every 3 minutes through the offpoint. TRACE: Nominal. AR 9334 and full disk mosaics. -------------------- FEBRUARY 8, 2001 OFFPOINTING SCEDULE OF ACTIVITIES Last Updated: 07-FEB-2001 at 14:30 UT Note: times are in UT and are estimates only THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 8 -------------------- 08:40 - 12:40 DSS-66 Short Contact 16:15 AOS on DSS-24 16:15-17:10 SVM RESERVED (Start of Pass Activities) 17:10-18:10 NRT FOR INSTRUMENT PREPARATIONS - LASCO CLOSES C2 AND C3 DOORS - UVCS RAMPS DOWN HIGH VOLTAGES - MDI OPENS ISS LOOP (MDI OCD Requests at least 20 minutes of VC2 prior to offpoint and as much as possible throughout) 18:10- ~22:10 SVM ACTIVITIES - DISABLE OFFPOINTING FLAG TO MDI, LASCO, SUMER AND UVCS (SUMER flag should have been disabled previously). - DISABLE ESR FLAG TO LASCO AND EIT ONLY - OFFPOINTING BEGINS For Step 1 at (0,0): --------------------- NRT: Execute EIT exposures Wait for go-ahead from EIT For Steps 2 to 12: ------------------ Execute profile to offset from table below NRT: Execute EIT exposures Wait for go-ahead from EIT For Step 13, at (0,30): ------------------------ Execute profile to offset from table below ENABLE ESR flag to LASCO/EIT NRT: Execute EIT exposures Open LASCO doors Wait for go-ahead from EIT For Step 14, back at (0,0): --------------------------- Execute profile to offset from table below NRT: Execute EIT exposures - AFTER MANEUVER * ENABLE Offpointing flag to MDI, LASCO, UVCS (SUMER closed) * CLOSE MDI's ISS Loop (after permission received from MDI) (then, at least 15 more minutes of VC2 as requested in OCD) ~ 22:10-01:05 NRT for instrument recovery. 01:05-01:50 SVM RESERVED - STATION HANDOVER TO DSS-46 AND RANGING ACTIVITIES 01:50-02:30 NRT if needed. ================================================================================== Positions (yaw, pitch) in arcseconds are given as deltas from nominal FPSS offset: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- step position (arcsec) dwell (min) minutes elapsed 1 (0, 0) 0 2 (-225, 0) 4 10 3 (-100, 0) 4 20 4 (0, 0) 4 30 5 (68, 0) 4 40 6 (383, 0) 4 50 7 (0, 0) 4 60 8 (0, -225) 4 70 9 (0, -100) 4 80 10 (0, 0) 4 90 11 (0, 68) 4 100 12 (0, 383) 4 110 13 (0, 30) 4 120 14 (0, 0) 4 130
