SPEAKER: Alphonse Sterling (MSFC) TOPIC: Homologous Solar Flares with EIT Crinkles: Evidence for the Breakout Model? FOT REPORT ---------- Spacecraft Status: Nominal Spacecraft Anomalies: None Accomplished Activities: VIRGO, CELIAS Planned Activities: RSL, VIRGO, New Guide Star (mag 5.75) Upcoming Operations: 2/8 Offpoint Operations Ground Anomalies: None SOLAR STATUS ------------ EIT daily On-Line Solar Status and observations: http://umbra.nascom.nasa.gov/eit/plan/log_form20010206.html LASCO daily On-Line Solar Status and observations: http://lasco-www.nrl.navy.mil/observations/2001/obs20010206.html INSTRUMENT STATUS ----------------- CDS: Nominal. Today - AR 9334; tomorrow - Oslo active region study on AR 9334 or 9335, then calibration observations with EIT on two active regions and one quiet sun region. UVCS: Nominal. Today and tomorrow - 10-hour coronal hole study in the South West from 1.7 to 2.4 Rsun and 14-hour synoptic. LASCO: Nominal. C2 and C3 synoptics. EIT: Nominal. 195 Angstrom CME watch and synoptics. MDI: Nominal. Continuous contact ended. MDI is in full disk mode and will be testing a new load today which will be used during the offpoint. MDI will begin observing in high res mode tomorrow at 04:30 UT. TRACE: Nominal. After continuing tracking AR 9930 in the early morning, TRACE will do a set of calibrations (flat fields and focus tests in all wavelengths except 1216). Then a 171 synoptic, followed by tracking AR 9334 all day using the UV flarewatch program. This is the target for JOP 136/Max Millenium #9, the HESSI coordinated observing program.
