SOHO Daily Meeting Minutes for Friday, 16 February 2001 ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * SPWG today at 2 p.m. in EAF. * Yesterday when reporting that the Goddard SOHO solar science team received "Laurels 2000" from Aviation Week & Space Technology we neglected to mention that TRACE s/c science team was also cited for "using the spacecraft's extraordinary images of solar coronal loops to solve one of the larger mysteries in space science: why the Sun's upper atmosphere is 1,000 times hotter than its surface." FOT REPORT ---------- Spacecraft Status: Nominal Spacecraft Anomalies: None Accomplished Activities: VIRGO, Nom. HGA Table, New tracking star, mag = 7.56 Planned Activities: VIRGO, RSL, New tracking star, mag = 7.67 Upcoming Operations: 2/22 Momentum Management/SK Maneuver Ground Anomalies: 047/0741 Spurious lock on spacecraft recevier #2. Impacts TBD. SOLAR STATUS ------------ 02/15 DOY 046 - 02/16 DOY 047 EIT daily On-Line Solar Status and observations: http://umbra.nascom.nasa.gov/eit/plan/log_form20010216.html LASCO daily On-Line Solar Status and observations: http://lasco-www.nrl.navy.mil/observations/2001/obs20010216.html HESSI test run default target: AR 9348 INSTRUMENT STATUS ----------------- CDS: Nominal. Today - A study on AR 9347, Oslo loops on the limb study on east limb and quiet sun study with MDI and TRACE. Weekend - usual weekend studies as well as a CME watch in the north west on Sunday. UVCS: Nominal. UVCS continues its coronal hole study in the North-West at 1.7-2.4 Rsun and mini-synoptics. At 17 UT today UVCS will begin an 8-hour star observation with real-time commanding of 38 Aqr in the east from 9 to 7 Rsun. On the weekend UVCS will resume coronal hole observations and mini-synoptics. LASCO: Nominal. C2 and C3 synoptics. LASCO begins high cadence observations at 22 UT today and continues until early Tuesday. EIT: Nominal. 195 Angstrom CME watch and synoptics. MDI: Nominal. Today - Quiet sun study in the bottom half of the high res field of view in all three variables. At about 19 UT MDI will do testing of line profile observations on the sunspot in the high res field for two to three hours. Quiet sun studies are planned for the weekend. TRACE: Nominal. Today - Umbral flashes on AR 9347, engineering, flarewatch on AR 9348 in the NW, then high cadence UV at quiet disk center. For the weekend, TRACE will continue the quiet sun observations with MDI then make a continous white light movie.
