SOHO WEEKLY PLANNING MEETING MINUTES For Week 27, July 1-7, 1996 1. ANNOUNCEMENTS None. 2. MONTHLY SCHEDULE UPDATE No joint collaboration with SOHO and the VLA will take place on July 1 due to the lack of information/preparation. On August 1, there will be a 6 hour memory dump (No commanding, VC01 telemetry not affected). For additional updates, see the Monthly schedule on then SOHO Web pages. 3. OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS DSN Schedule has some downlink only times this week so please bear these in mind: July 1 01:30 - 04:20 and 10:10 - 12:50 July 2 10:40 - 12:45 July 4 09:25 - 13:45 July 5 10:10 - 12:45 July 6 10:40 - 13:05 July 7 23:10 - 03:15 4. COORDINATED OPERATIONS JOP022 July 2-6 1996 Network evolution and dynamics. P. Lemaire, JOP leader OBJECTIVES of the run o Determination of the quiet Sun network lifetime. o Measurement of the respective area of cell and network at several temperatures in the transition region. o Evolution of shape and intensity in the network. Planned Observations on SOHO - SUMER Sumer will run continuously during the 5 days with a cycling of 4 rasters each one taking 1 hour: o in S VI 933.38 A (~ 200,000 K) and H I Ly eps 937.8 o in N III 991.5 A (~80,000 K) and Ne VI 1010.6 A (~400,000 K) o in O IV 1404.8 and 1407.4 A (~170,000 K, density diagnostic) o in C IV 1548.2 A (~100,000 K) and Ne VIII 770.4 A (~600,000 K) Each raster uses the 1 x 300 arcsec2 slit and scans a range of 185 arcsec by steps of 0.76 arcsec. In each position, we obtain the profile when the lines are bright enough or otherwise the intensity. To take into account of the solar rotation, every 2 hours the position of the scans will be updated. Doing so, we can follow the evolution of 40 to 70 supergranular cells. - CDS During 8 to 10 hours each day, CDS will raster a similar area (180 x 240 arcseconds) using the Normal Incidence Spectrometer with 2x240 arcsec slit and 2'' step. Line selection: He I 584.33, O III 599.59, O IV 554.5, O V 629.7, Mg IX 368.08 A. Exposure time: 20 seconds. Raster duration: 1 hour - EIT The EIT will obtain the following images. The times are relative to the daily start of the LASCO/EIT synoptic program. 1.7 hr 171A Fe IX/X 1024x1024 195A Fe XII 1024x1024 4.0 hr 304A He II 1024x1024 284A Fe XV 1024x1024 9.2 hr 171A Fe IX/X 1024x1024 195A Fe XII 1024x1024 11.6 hr JOP 22 block 11.9 hr JOP 22 block 16.9 hr JOP 22 block 17.2 hr 195A Fe XII 1024x1024 19.3 hr JOP 22 block 19.6 hr JOP 22 block Each JOP 22 block consists of a series of subframe images (256 pixels E-W by 192 pixels N-S). The series of images and exposure times are: 304A He II 100s 195A Fe XII 20s 284A Fe XV 300s 171A Fe IX/X 10s 304A He II 100s 195A Fe XII 20s 284A Fe XV 300s 171A Fe IX/X 10s - MDI MDI is in their helioseismology campaign mode and will be providing a full disk magnetogram every 96 minutes. These magnetograms are 5 minute averages of the field. Coordinated observations from Ground-Based Observatories will be welcomed in Ca II K (or H),H alpha, He 10830 and magnetic maps (or other lines). A target for JOP22 will be discussed at the Monday planning meeting. 5. WEEKLY SCIENCE TIMELINE Science Operations Leader fro this week : G. Poletto.
