SOHO WEEKLY PLANNING MEETING MINUTES For Week 37, Sept 9 - 15, 1996 CHAIR: Eliane Larduinat NOTES: Piet Martens 1. ANNOUNCEMENTS Daily meeting on Saturday, September 7, at 11:00 am. Please use campaign numbers in IAP's. These are defined in the monthly schedule. The filename convention for the background-queue had to be changed to make it possible for the CMS to subdivide large files into smaller files. The new convention will allow only 5 free characters after the instrument name, e.g. MDIxxxxx. Eliane will send out a detailed memo on the new filename convention. It is noted that since the background files can contain large amounts of commands now, instead of just 8, fewer files and filenames will be needed. It is further noted that filenames are not "forever", i.e. CMS does not "remember" filenames after the commands have been succesfully uplinked. 2. MONTHLY SCHEDULE UPDATE As usual, the updated schedule is to be found at: http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/operations/schedule/monthly.txt Note that for each week the weekly planners for CDS, SUMER, EIT, UVCS, and MDI are indicated. These are the people to be contacted for details on collaborations. Gopalswamy gave a short presentation on the VLA-Nobeyama-SXT-EIT Filament Campaign (#480) to be held from 19:00 to 01:00 UT on Sept. 8, 15, & 17. On Sept. 8 EIT cannot participate because of its bake-out, Sept. 15 is doubtful. Gopalswamy would also like to have collaboration from MDI, CDS and SUMER. For MDI the regular (every 96 minutes) full-disk magnetogram will do, for CDS and SUMER September 8 is too short notice, and the other dates will have to be negotiated. 3. OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS - DSN Schedule: Most days the long contact is from ~ 10:00 am (local) to ~ 8:00 pm - SVM Reserved: Extensive S/C operations this week, including gyro calibrations (pointing will remain nominal), momentum management, orbit correction maneuver, and an ACU S/W patch, to reduce guide star losses. Note that a fuel use of 0.5 kg is expected for the maneuver, and about 30 g (as usual) for the momentum management. A detailed schedule of this week's S/C activities as well as the experiment safing/recovery activities is appended. MDI requested 5 minutes of NRT before the ACU patch, preferably during VC2, to start test of campaign CDS will wait at least 24 hours after burn for door opening. LASCO will wait until CDS has opened door ....... 4. COORDINATED OPERATIONS An intercalibration between UVCS and CDS was introduced (which was later assigned #490). Viggo Hansteen gave a presentation on the science objectives of JOPs 20 and 46 planned for this week.
