Will be easy to perform with just minor pointing adjustments. Plan to center the observations on the West limb. LASCO -- will be performing the nominal synoptic observations next week. Nothing unusual planned. Later on in the future, they may be planning to adjust some minor parameters that control temperatures to see if this helps aid registration of images at the sub-pixel level. (actual temperatures will not change..) EIT -- On Monday and Tuesday of next week, performing a polar plumes study for a Co-Investigator at the south pole, using 1/4 of detector area; once every 2 hours. Plume study only requires EIT. Perhaps could use MDI synoptic magnetograms, but no special observations are needed. EIT will start a week-long bake-out which will start Friday, Jan 3 and continue until Friday, January 10. MDI -- Will be switching from full disk to high-resolution magnetograms on December 30. Will be taking high-resolution magnetograms until January 6th.. exact times for these days are still to be determined. High-resolution magnetograms will be taken 1 every 30 seconds. UVCS -- has been scanning at different roll angles to make complete maps of the corona. This week they did the East limb, next week they will do the West limb. (note: after the weekly meeting, UVCS re-examined some images and did detect the tail of a sun-grazing comet seen by LASCO) A.O.B ----- ISTP Workshop will be held in Building 26 week of Jan 6-9, participation is strongly encouraged by Vicente Domingo (see e-mail previously sent out today for details..).
