SOHO WEEKLY PLANNING MEETING MINUTES For Week 12, Mar 17, 1997 1. ANNOUNCEMENTS Due to the number of spacecraft activities next week, there may be some days next week where no daily meeting will be conducted. Perhaps shift time of SPWG to the afternoon. On Monday of next week will announce a plan for this at the daily meeting. 2. MONTHLY SCHEDULE UPDATE Due to the length of this meeting in going over the roll activities, this will be deferred to next week's SPWG. 3. COORDINATED OPERATIONS The following coordinated observations will take place next week: M Mar 17 (W12) Gyro Activities (see timeline) JOP015 (#1330), High Velocity Events, CDS/SUMER/EIT/MDI, 16-24 UT, EOF: Phil Judge; pointing is disk center JOP020 (#1325), Nanoflares, CDS/SUMER/EIT/MDI, 12-16 UT, EOF: Phil Judge T Mar 18 Reaction Wheel #4 Maintenance (involves a burn) Momentum Management (See timeline for details) W Mar 19 JOP015 (#1330), High Velocity Events, CDS/SUMER/MDI, EOF: Phil Judge T Mar 20 Roll Maneuver (16 Hours Sequence Max), MDI/SWAN F Mar 21 SPWG EIT to start CCD Bakeout S Mar 22 EIT CCD Bakeout S Mar 23 EIT CCD Bakeout Other Activities for Week 12: * JOP046 (#1320), Helium Study -- On a Coronal Hole Boundary, CDS/EIT EOF: Phil Judge Planners for Week 12 SOL - Rock Bush CDS - Chris Haskell SUMER - Udo Schuehle UVCS - John Kohl EIT - Jeff Newmark MDI - Julia Saba LASCO - Clarence Korendyke ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ADDITIONAL NOTES: EIT: On Monday, EIT will support JOP020 with partial field 171 angstrom images and JOP15 with partial field FeXII and 304 angstrom images. On Friday, March 21, EIT will begin a CCD bakeout around 15:30 UT which will last over the weekend and probably recover on Monday, March 24. MDI: JOP015 pointing for Monday will be disk center. JOP015 pointing for Wednesday will be in the top half of the MDI high-resolution field-of-view. Activities: ----------- New timeline was distributed (prior to the weekly meeting minutes which is coming out a bit late -- on Saturday, with apologies..). Monday -- Gyro activities will mostly impact NRT times for instrument teams. Tuesday -- Please note that due to the long gap (7 hours) between the short and long pass, the SSR dump will have to be interrupted to transition to VC2 prior to the MDI jitter test. MDI will be restarting their structure program in a slightly different fashion (during the NRT for MDI to end the jitter test). MDI to submit OCD for extra VC2 from 00:45 to 01:45 UT to test the slightly modified structure program. Switch from Submode #5 to Submode #2 in the NRT period after the burns are over (per LASCO/EIT/SOC direction). Wednesday -- We are in continuous contact starting at 12:00 UT. Teams recover from burns. Transition back to Submode #5 begins at ~18:00 UT. Thursday -- Review of timeline. Friday -- Roll Continued into early Friday morning (See timeline). Activity Notes : --------------- Most instrument teams only need to send a few commands (CDS: 3, SUMER less than 10, EIT ~ 4-8,..) at each roll/dwell. On Monday, when Rock Bush and SWAN representatives are here, may want to go over contingency and commanding details in more detail. Some initial discussion was as follows: All of the 30 degree increment dwells (ROLLS # 1-12) are very important to MDI - must sample all those points. ROLLS# 13 and ROLLS#14 are to provide checks for MDI. If time were running short it would be most likely (to confirm on Monday) that one of those checks (ROLLS #13 - #14 could be cut). We do not want to cut into the ~2 hours allotted at the +90 degree position. LASCO/EIT (after the weekly meeting) expressed a preference that if time were running short they would rather have ROLL#13 cut out rather than ROLL#14. However, if things were running ahead of schedule -- all the additional time would be added to the +90 degree (aka -270) position for SWAN. A.O.B. ------ It was mentioned that an Australian TV Crew would be visiting the EOF next week on the day of the roll maneuver (!!). MDI, EIT, SOC and FOT expressed concerns about having a film crew in that day. EIT and MDI wants to barricade their rooms. SOC very concerned about cables, wires and other obstacles that could hinder and potentially trip/injure stressed-out people running around in a frenzy especially if something goes wrong. FOT would not want any cameras in the MOR. Perhaps the film crew could film outside by looking in the window. Action on Art Poland to find out if the camera crew could come another day to the EOF/MOR area.
