WEEKLY MEETING MINUTES for November 10-16 1. Announcements ------------------ Reminder: Power outage in the EAF over the weekend. No archive, no web pages.. etc. Computers will be shut down ~ 5pm this afternoon and will come back up on Monday. December maneuvers -- We could lose our Dec 7 maneuver date due to a change in an Equator-S launch. IF this happens, we may have to move to November 29 for our maneuvers. Right now, this is still preliminary and other circumstances are still being weighed (fuel expended in April if we move this early.., etc.) There are many factors involved.. we will keep you posted through the meeting minutes. But instrument teams should be aware that this possibility now exists. 2. Operations Constraints --------------------------- - DSN schedule: Fairly regular, but teams are advised that contacts end early on the following days: Monday end of NRT at 23:00 or 6:00 pm local time Tuesday end of NRT at 00:00 or 7:00 pm local time Thursday end of NRT at 23:50 or 6:50 pm local time So plan your commanding load accordingly. - Submode Switches: Monday, Switch to Submode #6: End of the MEDOC campaign will occur on Monday. SUMER will be ending their science observations early on Monday morning, then SUMER from the EOF will need some commanding to turn off their detectors (roughly in a 13:30 - 14:30 NRT period). After the typical SVM reserved activities, we will switch to Submode #6 at ~ 15:15 UT. Friday, Switch to Submode #3: On Friday, November 14, we will switch to Submode #3 at ~ 18:00 UT. This will give CDS high rate telemetry to test their program prior to the SERTS launch on Tuesday, November 18. The SERTS launch window is scheduled for 19:35 - 19:50 UT on Tuesday. 3. Coordinated operations for next week ---------------------------------------- The following coordinated operations are planned for next week: M Nov 10 (W46) Switch to Submode #6 at 15:15 UT T Nov 11 CDS/MDI/VLA Coronal Fe Abundance (#3040), POC: Stephen White (UMD), 14:00-24:00 UT W Nov 12 CDS/MDI Coronal Fe Abundance (#3040), POC: Stephen White (UMD), 14:00-24:00 UT T Nov 13 CDS/MDI Coronal Fe Abundance (#3040), POC: Stephen White (UMD), 14:00-24:00 UT F Nov 14 CDS/EIT Full Sun Scans (#3045), 7-18 UT Switch to Submode #3 at ~ 18:00 UT. S Nov 15 S Nov 16 JOP060 (#3050), Transient Sources in the Solar Corona, VLA/EIT/CDS/LASCO, 16:30 - 21:30 UT POC: Rob Willson (RWILLSON@PEARL.TUFTS.EDU) Other Activities for Week 46: * Target of Opportunity: JOP018 (#3055) Sunspot Studies CDS/MDI/Sac Peak (O. Wikstol, P. Brekke) Planners for Week 46: SOL - Dennis Socker CDS - Bill Thompson SUMER - No Science TM/No Planner UVCS - Luca Zangrilli EIT - Simon Plunkett MDI - Joe Covington LASCO - Dennis Socker Relevant Notes: -------------- CDS full sun scans will last for 11 hours. EIT will support with 304 Angstrom images every 2 hours. After this program is completed, we will switch to submode #3. MDI will be testing a campaign on Monday. The will run a "mag movies 2" campaign which takes full-disk magnetograms for 2 minutes, then 8 minutes of high-resolution magnetograms. On Friday, then will probably switch to a full disk magnetogram campaign to support the full sun scans being done by CDS (with EIT). On Wednesday and Thursday the VLA will not be supporting the Coronal Abundance Campaign. UVCS will be observing line profiles of OVI and Lyman-alpha at 1.5 and 2.2 solar radii in NE part of solar corona to look at the different behavior of the line profiles at different latitudes. Goal is to try and understand the different heating mechanisms at work at those different heights.
