Bories be stationed at GSFC for the early operations and commissioning phase. Bories has the most complete understanding of the PLM and experiment interactions. Action 16.1: To request Project to provide information on the cause of the ------------ failure and on the status of the S/C. (closed) 1.) PR activities Simon Vermeer distributed and explained a script for TV activities covering the SOHO launch which will be transmitted on NASA Select. It will also be transmitted to Europe (ESA [ESTEC, ESOC, HQ], Matra Toulouse, and RAL). The suggestion to tape PI interviews beforehand was not considered appropriate by the PR experts, since pre-taped interviews would lack the particular atmosphere of a launch. All PI teams except MDI and UVCS committed themselves to support TV activties for a Tuesday, Nov 28, launch (MDI and UVCS probably, but have to check first who will attend the launch). 2.) Early operations and commissioning V.Domingo presented Issue 3 of the commissioning plan from 10 November which will be circulated to the PIs soon. Several PIs expressed their needs for more detailed information about the later commissioning phase. VD promised to provide this information as soon as possible. A.Poland requested to fully staff the operational teams at the EOF to speed up operations. It was agreed to have regular SOT meetings from now on. The first meeting will take place on Monday, November 27, at the EOF at 10 am, to discuss the first 72 hours in detail. Attendees: experiment representatives, FOT, and S/C representatives. K.Wilhelm asked how the apogee height varies with the launch date. No conclusive answer could be given. D.Hovestadt requested to have the possibility to receive and monitor the low rate housekeeping telemetry at the Cape. R.Howard explained that LASCO will ftp the temperature packets from the EOF to display and monitor the temperature at the Cape. The same procedure could be applied for other experiments. 3.) Next meeting It was agreed to hold the next SWT meeting on 7/8 December at the EAF at GSFC to discuss the activties for the next 3 months after MCC-2. The PIs are requested to propose other agenda items.
