BACKGROUND QUEUE INFORMATION

SUBMITTING FILES TO CMS for BACKGROUND QUEUE

  • There is no deadline for background queue files
  • Caution: inform experimentors that they can only submit 8000 commands per file
  • Have the FOT DISABLE the NRT.
  • Verify that the background queue is DISABLED.
  • Teams need to ftp over the files about 15 minutes before NRT to allow it to be processed.
  • The file will be automatically passed on to the FOT.
  • The CMS will parse the file and a report will be returned (valid/invalid).
  • Team should ftp files to SOC machine at: /ftp/iws_files/bckque
  • Watch the event log and see that it has been approved by the CMS.
  • Write all this in the log book
  • When team is ready for the file to be uplinked, have the FOT ENABLE the background queue (and make sure NRT is ENABLED) and the commands will be uplinked.
  • After load is done, tell FOT that it was successful and that they can DISABLE the background queue.
  • NOTE: To uplink commands, the FOT must ENABLE the background queue and the NRT must be ENABLED with the EOF.

NOTE: To make setup changes, edit files in /home/ecs/ecs/ecs_config after doing a stopcmd.
