Instrument Turn-On ------------------ Last Update: 3/27/07 EBZ Summary of Time to Recover -------------------------- CDS - 2 hours CELIAS - 8 hours CEPAC - 1 hour GOLF - 30 minutes now, 30 minutes from MEDOC now or later EIT/LASCO - 2 hours MDI - 3.5 hours SUMER - 30 minutes or 2.5 hours SWAN - 1 hour or 3 hours UVCS - 2.5 hours or 5 hours VIRGO - 1 hour VGM - 5 hours NOTE: Use the latest version (operational, with any immediate OCD changes) of scripts and cross check with any other changes for instrument turn on. Get the order of instruments from Joe/Bernhard (usually do first the instrument that caused the problem if applicable then try for VGM) Check the calendar for collaborations and check with the order from Joe and Bernhard to verify the order of instrument turn on. Think about what caused the problem and avoid recreating the conditions that caused it. SOC Reminders ------------- Email minutes list with announcement Check QT* temperatures for instruments so no thermal reconfiguration Check metering rate before NRT is enabled and set to 7 for D27 if heavy commanding is expected Do submode change to 5 before doing SUMER turn-on Check with LASCO about CDS door closing/opening Make sure MDI door is open before doing CEPAC turn-on Verify that CEPAC will use the nominal power supply Instrument Requirements (in alphabetical order) ----------------------- CDS: *Check with LASCO about door closing/opening CDS team must come into the EOF FOT runs C-08 v0.0 (will be modified) Remove CDS from ESR list Send c_fl_safe TSTOL Turn on CDS at LCL level Send c_fl_pwron_n TSTOL Enable NRT - CDS will close doors (TELL LASCO FIRST!) and enter snooze mode Turn on substitution heaters (total: ~2 hours) With CDS off, QTC* may be too high and need to decrease sub heater duty cycles CDS is now safe but not doing science and will wait about a week to do testing before opening up doors (make sure LASCO can close their doors first) To power-up on the B side would be difficult. Waiting to hear from Jeff for details. 2 TSTOL's are run: c_fl_pwron_n.prc, c_fl_safe. One B side script does exist: c_fl_pwron_r.prc. CELIAS: CELIAS team representative will come into the EOF and call remote people as needed FOT runs F-08 v1.0 (will be modified) for DPU recovery Adjust thermal monitoring parameters for circuit 64 Turn on CELIAS at LCL level Disable substitution heater monitoring Turn on substitution heaters (64,65,66,67) Send f_fl_cls_on_p TSTOL Uplink many patches NRT for ~30 minutes (total: ~2.5 hours) FOT runs F-07 v0.1 (will be modified) for STOF recovery Send a load Turn off substitution heater 66 Send lots of loads Turn off substitution heater 67 Enable substitution heater monitoring (total: ~1 hour) FOT runs F-09 v0.0 (will be modified) for CTOF recovery Send f_fl_ctstby Turn off substitution heater 64 Enable NRT for ~15 minutes (won't be needed in modified version) Adjust thermal monitoring parameters for circuit 64 back to normal (total: ~30 minutes) FOT runs F-05 v0.0 for MTOF recovery Put MTOF in standby Turn off substitution heater 65 Send several TSTOLs Enable NRT for ~3 hours (total: ~4 hours) (total: ~8 hours) To power-up on the B side should be easy. Unknown if there are any script changes but the answer is believed to be no. CEPAC: * Can only be done after MDI door is open * Verify that CEPAC will use the nominal power supply CEPAC will direct turn-on over the phone FOT runs H-10 v0.1 for CEPAC Power On Turn on CEPAC at LCL Level Send h_fl_onnom TSTOL Send f_fl_ehtrs TSTOL Uplink load Send 2 TSTOLs Uplink 2 loads Send 2 TSTOLs (total: ~1 hour) To power-up on the B side, for ERNE a TSTOL would have to be updated but no changes for COSTEP. Software for ERNE would have to be reloaded. GOLF: GOLF team will direct turn-on over the phone FOT runs G-03 v1.0 GOLF Power On (will be modified) Turn on GOLF at LCL level Send g_fl_halon_m TSTOL Instrument is in safe mode and can stay that way for days if needed Limits will violate until MEDOC NRT is complete (total: ~30 minutes) NRT from MEDOC (~30 minutes) Note: will take about a day to thermally stabilize so early data isn't useful Note: GOLF doesn't like to have data gaps of more than 16 hours To power-up on the B side would require time because the B side has to be recommissioned. FOT TSTOL's should work fine. All the heaters and voltages need to be established from telemetry. TSTOL's would take about 2 hours and then 2 hours of NRT needed after that, followed by a few hours of NRT each day for about a week. EIT/LASCO: * What is the CDS door status? EIT/LASCO team must come into EOF FOT runs L-05 v0.0 LASCO Power On Turn on LASCO/EIT at LCL level Send a command Tell team the LIPWA value Send L_cycle_pwr_intr TSTOL Tell team the LIPWA value Enable NRT (~45 mins for reboot, ~45 mins for load) Enable ESR then offpoint flags (total: ~2 hours) To power-up on the B side would be difficult. The memory on the B side is half the memory on the A side, so all the FOT turn-on procedures would have to be rewritten and all the onboard software would have to be revised. This would take at least a week. MDI: MDI team must come into EOF FOT runs M-03 v0.0 MDI Power On Remove MDI from ESR flag Turn on MDI at LCL level Send many TSTOLs with waits for MDI team NRT for ~2.5 hours A limit sheet will only be needed for multxave and multyave IF all 2.5 hours of NRT is given to MDI and commanding to start subsystems is successful Add back to ESR and offpoint flag lists as soon as the S/C is stable (ie, not in ESR or CRP mode or rolled to some strange angle) and MDI has been turned back on. I think this was done (in Jan 2007) when the FOT first turned MDI ON Hours of background queue commanding and NRT required to completely get MDI back up and running nominally (total: ~3.5 hours) To power-up on the B side would be difficult. SUMER: * Do a submode change to 5 before turning SUMER on SUMER team will direct turn-on over the phone FOT runs S-06 v1.0 SUMER Power On Confirm in submode 5 Turn SUMER on LCL Send s_fl_rcovery TSTOL If not observing, can now wait or be given NRT to get in exact safe configuration - do they want flags enabled? Need limit sheet. If observing, enable NRT for ~2 hours (total: ~30 minutes or ~2.5 hours) To power-up on the B side should be easy - the procedures are ready. SWAN: SWAN team will direct turn-on over the phone FOT runs N-04 v0.0 SWAN Power On (will be modified) Remove from ESR flag Turn on SWAN at LCL level Send n_fl_nm_sw_on TSTOL Send delayed load for patches Team verifies position Send delayed load to recalibrate mechanisms Return to ESR warning flag Send load for science (total: ~1 hour - 3 hours) To power-up on the B side would be difficult. Most scripts would need to be replaced or updated. UVCS: UVCS team must come into EOF FOT runs U-03 v0.0 UVCS Power On Enable offpoint flag Remove ESR flag Turn UVCS on at LCL level Send u_fl_pwron_pr TSTOL Enable NRT for ~2 hours Verify duty cycle for heater 84 then turn off when UVCS ready If UVCS turned off from a UVCS problem, will need ~3 more hours of NRT Send OBT Add ESR flag Need a limit sheet Will do more commanding the next day (total: ~2.5 hours or ~5 hours) To power up on the B side will be difficult. The FOT script u_fl_pwron_rd exists and could be used to power up the instrument (all FOT procedures for B turn-on exist), but then UVCS will need to be recalibrated and the onboard software reloaded. That will take several weeks and then UVCS will have to finish its calibration using stars, which could take months. VIRGO: VIRGO team will direct turn-on over the phone FOT runs V-03 v0.0 VIRGO Power On (will be updated) Delete pending VIRGO timetag commands (can be done earlier) Send v_fl_pwrona TSTOL Send v_fl_opmode TSTOL Uplink new delayed load (or old one with past dates removed) May see latchup indication briefly (total: ~1 hour) * Will power on be completed before the midnight daily pulse? * Did VIRGO send us a new TTC? FOT runs TSTOLs and uploads TTC (~1 hour) modify cs To power-up on the B side would be easy. Location: on McSoc: /Users/socfiles/info/order_turnon.txt
