POCC TERMINAL

POCC TERMINAL

UPDATED: 21 Sept 2004

NOTE: There is a large binder full of POCC terminal details in the shelf above the POCC terminal.

  • This is the manual for the process of login in to the POCC terminal. This is the terminal used by the POCC to monitor and control various aspects of the spacecraft. From the EOF, this terminal can only be used to monitor such data, as the controlling privledge is restricted to the POCC only. There are 3 strings available to the EOF but the EOF can only be using a string that the FOT is not using.
    1. Ask FOT what string they are using and have them set up their software and telemetry on a different string for the EOF to use (set up the backup string)
    2. Login to the terminal in the EOF - we are using sh5ws2

      Login: sohosoc

      Password:

      NOTE: If need to change passwords, sh5ws2 will not let you log in until you have chosen a new password. Then login and change the passwords on sh4fe1, sh5fe1, sh6fe1, sh4ws1, sh5ws1, sh6ws1 (not currently used by us so may not be able to change this one) also by pulling up a window on sh5ws2 and typing remsh sh5fe1 and then typing the old and new passwords.

    3. Pull up a blank window from the terminal on the bottom right next to the blue 'SOHO' button.
    4. Type: eof_displays 4, eof_displays 5, eof_displays 6 depending on which string you are on (4/5/6 are string numbers)

      NOTE: Can type eof_displays 4 alarm to bring up just alarm page or eof_displays 4 tstol to bring up just the other pages.

    5. This will bring up the display windows: "STDHDR-SOHO-Front End-sh4fe1", "SOHO R/T Alarms", "SOHO-Front End-sh4fe1", "Event-SOHO-Front End-sh4fe1"

      NOTE: The sh4fe1 will change to sh5fe1 or sh6fe1 depending on the string we are on.

      NOTE: The alarms page has all the limits currently violating.

      NOTE: Beware when logging out. You must do proper cleanup after closing the alarms page (see new instructions under step 11 below). Otherwise the FOT has problems!! If you have trouble bringing up the alarms page, the FOT can run their "cleanup" script on their side to see if the problem is cleared. [7/12/04 email from Rob]

    6. Go to the blue window titled "SOHO - Front End sh4fe1". From the pull-down menu bar, click-hold on "FILE", go to "PAGES >", and release the mouse button on "SELECT". This should bring up a window titled "PAGE SELECTION". This window displays the various aspects of the satellite which can be monitored. It might help to make this window bigger. The EOF will probably only be concerned with certain displays. The letter before the underscore (_) indicates the instrument team associated with it. They are:

      c = CDS

      f = CELIAS

      h = CEPAC

      e = EIT

      g = GOLF

      l = LASCO

      m = MDI

      s = SUMER

      n = SWAN

      u = UVCS

      v = VIRGO

      For all experiments, use these display pages:

      i_exp_stat = Experiment LCL, current, flags status

      i_exp_check = Major mnemonics for all instruments

      t_ptcs_3 = has Q* temperature mnemonics for CDS, CELIAS, CEPAC, GOLF, LASCO/EIT, MDI

      t_ptcs_4 = has Q* temperature mnemonics for SUMER, SWAN, UVCS, VIRGO

      o_eof_man_stat = has instrument info for maneuvers

      n_sw_stat_1 = has SWAN mnemonics we watch during maneuvers

      a_pros_dv = has thruster firing info

      a_thr1to4_cot_xtplot = plots of cumulative thruster fire

      a_thr1to4_otl_xtplot = plots of each thruster firing

      stdhdrc = has more header information (orbit is year, day, pass: 2 051 3)

      p_plm1_pdu_scroll = has PDU info for instruments

      a_fpssisamp = fpss parameters

      a_rollman = (exists for roll maneuvers)

      WHEN WE ARE IN LOW RATE TELEMETRY:

      To get the list of pages that have low rate telemetry for all instruments except LASCO, at the top of the window type *_exphk_* and then hit the filter button (see Appendix H in Flight Ops Plan Book for more information)

      NOTE: To take snapshots: in the window on the bottom right (where the blue SOHO button was) click on the white PAGE button and then click the right mouse button on the window you want snapped. The snapshot will print out in the IMOC near string 5.

    7. Click on the information you want displayed, then click the 'APPLY' button or double click on the page you want displayed.
    8. If you want to display a specific value of a parameter, in the blue "SOHO - Front End - sh5fe1" window, type sv then the mnemonic name (use a p@ in front of the mnemonic to get the converted value):

      sv FIPWA (raw value)

      sv p@FIPWA (converted value)

    9. To make a QuickPage window to see your selection of mnemonics, follow instructions at end of this page
    10. To end the session, close all windows. BEWARE: After closing the "alarms" window you need to, in a terminal session window, type:

      eof_displays 4 cleanup (if on string 4, or use 5 if on string 5, etc.)

      The above cleanup can be repeated if you can't remember if you did it.

    11. Logout of the terminal

  • To see info about mnemonic database (e.g. calibration curves):
