STOP/START INFO

stopall, startall are used as a last resort for problem solving or for taking down software for maintenance

Make sure to request the missing telemetry later

Do showall and sock to make sure things are fully down and then fully up afterwards

Doing a stopall will not reformat open SDU files, so when you request the data you must ask for all data not reformatted

stopdps, startdps are used to clear defunct sessions - use only when DPS processes aren't running (check event log for this)

stoptlm, starttlm are used if telemetry is down but we don't know why

Make sure to request the missing telemetry later, as when doing stopall

If stoptlm fails, try a stopall

stopcmd, startcmd are used to change metering rates or CMSs - see separate instructions for use in these cases

Make a note in the log whenever any of these are used

Can do a showtlm and see that it is active for:

dps, vc01ref, mdiref, vc01cap, mdicap, vc01sess, mdisess

vc01cap is the session that captures telemetry - a new file is started every half hour

There are other stop/start functions in the /u/ecs/exe directory but we almost never use them
