OPENING FILES AND DISPLAYING IMAGES

1. Supported Data Formats

  • JPEG -
  • BMP -
  • IMG - an in-house data format that consists of images being stored with a preceeding 8-byte header, where each 2-byte word corresponds to

    • image width
    • image height
    • number of bands (ie; 1 for grayscale images, 3 for rgb)
    • number of bytes per pixel

    Multiple image files are supported, where a separate log file is an ascii table (1 row per image) containing information about;

    • position of first byte of data
    • position of last byte of data
    • name of image
    • date image was taken
    • time image was taken

The screenshot (below) is an example of a log file.

2. Opening Image Files

Click File -> Open to bring up a selection dialog box.

Multiple files may be selected. (Files corresponding to unsupported data formats, depending on the filename extension, will not be selected.)

A list of the selected filenames will be displayed in the PREVIEW PANEL.

Further files may be opened at any time.
